Q: What is the minimum hardware and
software requirements?
A:
- Operating Systems: Windows® XP/2000/98/ME
- Processor (CPU): Pentium® III 500MHz
- Memory (RAM): 128Mb of RAM
- Hard Drive (HDD): 10Gb of Free Space
- DVD-Rom/Burner: DVD-R(W)/+R(W) Drive
- Blank DVD Media: DVD-R(W)/+R(W) Discs
Q. Can I copy a DVD to one disk and keep
all the extras too?
A. Most commercial movies on DVD are "dual layered", which means they
can hold twice as much information as the blank recordable DVD media
available to consumers to copy DVDs. As a result, there is simply too much
information on most DVDs to be copied with all the extras.
You can compress a DVD movie to a single disk, but to do this you have to
give up some of the extras. The more extras you keep, the lower the
overall video quality will be. Any extras you include will play before or
after the feature movie, depending on the order you select. As a result,
you will no longer have the original menus. You will however still be able
to keep the chapters, subtitles and audio language of your choice.
Q. If I compress the video, will it look as good as the original DVD?
A. In most cases you won't see any difference in the video quality for
average length 90 minute movies. In some cases where the movie is very
long, you may see some compression changes during certain scenes. We have
provided you with a splitting application for those movies which are
longer to copy to on single DVD with proper video quality.
Q. How long does it take to copy a DVD?
A. This depends on your hardware, but we performed out tests on an
average computer with a 2.0 GHz P4 computer that had a a 4X DVD writer and
a 16X DVD reader. It takes about 30 minutes to copy an average ninety
minute movie. You'll also need another 15 minutes to burn the DVD. The
burn speed is fixed by the DVD drive and media combination, but you can
expect the copying time to vary with the speed of your computer.
